Wholesale of L-isoleucine powder, the influence of stereoisomers on biological activity

time:2025-05-09

L-isoleucine has three stereoisomers, namely D-isoleucine, L-alloisoleucine, and D-alloisoleucine, and they have different effects on biological activities:

D-isoleucine: It is widely present in organisms, especially in bacteria and fungi. It is a component in the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall and also participates in many metabolic pathways and signal transduction pathways. In addition, D-isoleucine has pharmacological effects. For example, it has antibacterial and antitumor activities and can be used to treat some infectious and tumor diseases.

L-alloisoleucine: It is a stereoisomer of L-isoleucine and is a common component of human plasma. In patients with maple syrup urine disease, it can be endogenously formed from (R)-3-methyl-2-oxopentanoic acid. Some studies have shown that during strict metabolic balance processes, it may have functional differences in the catabolism of the four branched-chain L-amino acids.

D-alloisoleucine: Currently, there is relatively little research on its biological activity. However, as a stereoisomer of isoleucine, theoretically, it may play a certain role in some specific biological processes, and further in-depth research is needed.

It should be noted that L-isoleucine is an essential amino acid for the human body and plays an important role in protein synthesis, muscle health, blood glucose regulation, and other aspects. Although its stereoisomers also play a role in some biological processes, their physiological functions and mechanisms are different from those of L-isoleucine, and there are also differences in their contents and distributions in organisms.
